CONFEDERATE SPILLER & BURR REVOLVER ISSUED MAY 1864, MACON ARMORY.
inv # 01-18457

Cal. 36.
S# 218.

This revolver that is among the few survivors listed by serial number in the Macon Armory records as issued May/June 1864. Revolver has matching serial numbers but also a crossed out serial number “1223” on bottom of barrel along with “218”. This is feature seen only on Spillers as so many failed inspection in Atlanta in 1863 such as this one. SN 1223 makes it among the very last Spillers made in Atlanta, the highest Atlanta number known is 1243. The left side of grip frame has a series of three “O”s which Albaugh believed meant “overstamped” and appears a good observation. Few Confederate revolvers can we date to manufacture and issue. This is an attractive Confederate brass framed revolver last in the extensive Confederate revolver collection of the late Gary Bizacky.
