2 CASED ENGRAVED 1849 POCKET MODEL REVOLVERS.

Caliber: Both 31

Barrel: Both 6″, top flats have hand engraved “Saml Colt” markings.

Stock: Both have 1 piece grips of highly finished fancy black walnut.

MFG: Both 1852

Notes: Although done by different hands, both guns are factory engraved in different styles w/ the same coverage. Frames have full coverage scroll engraving. Bbls. have engraving on breech ends w/ highlights around top flat markings & fancy borders at muzzles. Trigger guards, trigger guard bows, backstraps & butts are engraved as well as hammers, wedges & loading levers. Both have the punch dots above or below the S#’s that indicate factory special finishing. 

Engraving: 

1) S# 46076. Left side of frame has banner w/ hand engraved “COLT’S / PATENT” marking. Engraving by unknown engraver has a left hand twist to scroll work. Hammer engraving is of a foliate pattern.

2) S# 49761. Hammer has wolfs head engraving as often associated w/ the work of Gustav Young. Scroll work on frame, bbl. & sm. parts is more elaborate, delicate & of finer quality than the engraving on the first revolver. Left side of frame has oval w/ hand engraved “COLT’S PATENT” marking.
