SCARCE CIVIL WAR 1ST MODEL MAYNARD SADDLE RING CARBINE.

Cal. 35
S# 4859

This was a popular military arm in the South at beginning of Civil War, especially in 35 cal. He also notes that archeological evidence shows that Maynards issued to Florida troops along the Apalachicola River were using 35 cal. cartridges. This gun confirms to other 1st model carbines, iron mounted, tape primer system, iron toolbox w/ 3 line patents, “MAYNARD ARMS CO / WASHINGTON” on right side of frame, 20″; 2 stage octagonal to round bbl. w/ 3.5″ adj. tang sight, 2 position rear sight, front sight missing from dovetailed slot.
