RARE CIVIL WAR ERA 13-STAR FLAG ON WAR STRIPE.

68″ x 34″ All cotton, hand sewn double appliqué 3″ stars, stripes & canton machine sewn on treadle machine, 1 1/4″ leading-edge has five hand sewn whipped eyelets. Flags w/ ratio 2:1 (fly:hoist) are typically early war, 1861. Rarely seen are American flags w/ canton resting on red (war) stripe. Flag was made w/ 11 stripes, unaltered, sewn fly edge, selvage edge to top & bottom stripes. Recently found in Michigan estate. Sm. Civil War era flags w/ fine aesthetic such as this are difficult to find & will display beautifully.
