NEW HAVEN ARMS VOLCANIC NO. 1 LEVER ACTION PISTOL.

S# 294 (inside frame)
Bbl. 3 1/2″ oct. w/ integral magazine

Blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. Top flat marked “NEW HAVEN CONN. PATENT FEB. 14, 1854”. Silver finished frame. 2 Piece ivory grips. Inside of both grips have matching number “294”. The first Volcanic pistols were based on a patent by Horace Smith & Daniel B. Wesson & produced by Smith & Wesson. Estimated total production was 1,700 in 1854-1855. In July 1855 the name was changed to the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company, which was reorganized in April 1857 as the New Haven Arms Company due to financial pressures. New Haven Volcanic production lasted from 1857-1860 w/ an estimated total production of 3,300.

Estimated production of the 3 1/2″ bbl. is 850.
