FEDERAL PERIOD SILVER HILTED HORSEMAN’S SABER WITH POSSIBLE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION.

Overall length: 38″. Blade length: 32 1/2″.

The single wide fullered blade has blue & gold decoration extending 11″ up from the hilt. Etching includes an American eagle w/ a ribbon above that reads, “E Pluribus Unum”, a spray of arms w/ Liberty cap on pole & the words, “HONOUR AND MY COUNTRY”. Solid silver hilt w/ ribbed ivory grip. Hilt has engraved lineal decoration bordering the knuckle bow & crossguard. There is an oak leaf at the base of the knuckle bow & 1 side of the quillon has an engraved star w/ lineal decoration. The ferrule shows matching lineal engraving & the backstrap has well executed foliate repousse work at the pommel. Original leather scabbard w/ silver throat & drag. Throat has engraved script initials that appear to read “D C T” surmounting an engraved palmetto tree indicating possible South Carolina association.
