Bbl. 8″. Standard configuration w/ one line Hartford address. Factory letter states this was one of 160 revolvers shipped Jan. 17, 1861 to Col. William T. Martin, who personally outfitted “Jeff Davis Legion” who fought under Gen. JEB Stuart. This unit was the most elite of Mississippi troops, fighting in most every major cavalry battle in the Army of Northern Virginia until transferred to the Army of Tennessee & taking part in the campaign through the Carolinas under Gen. Joe Wheeler. Documented Colts shipped south are all desirable, but those shipped to Col. William Martin & the Jeff Davis Legion are the rarest & most desirable. There are less than 10 survivors known of the 160 pistols shipped & this is a very nice all original & aesthetically pleasing example.

STATUS: ANTIQUE
