Exceptional Large Tillotson “hunter’s Companion” Bowie Knife

14.5” overall, 10” clip point blade etched “HUNTER’S COMPANION” in riband among elegant scrolls. Full firm marking “TILLOTSON & CO / COLUMBIA PLACE / SHEFFIELD” on ricasso and also on sheath which is rare feature. Early solid cast German silver handle with pinned horn slabs, embossed German silver mounted polychrome brown leather veneered sheath. This is a show piece pictured on page 223 of Adams “The Bowie Knife Book” 1990, ex-Bob Berryman collection.
