WWII German SS NCO Sword
02-18268
A truly superb example of a rare early WWII German SS sword for an NCO.
Overall length 39 1/2″. Blade length 33 1/8”. Plain blade with a single fuller marked at the ricasso “PET.DAN.KREBS (logo) SOLINGEN”. The other side of the ricasso has the owner’s initials “H B” engraved in a stylistically pleasing manner. White leather washer is intact. Plated hilt with plain 3-sided knuckle bow. There is an oak leaf ferrule surrounding the base of the grip and an “SS” topped pommel at the top of the grip. There are “SS” marks on the underside of the guard as well as on the throat of the scabbard. Black ribbed grip with attached black & silver sword knot. Scabbard has a black enamel finish with a plated throat. The original sword hanger is attached. This sword is housed in a “make-do” carrying case that appears to be adapted from a machine gun barrel carrying pouch. The outside of the green canvas pouch is stenciled “SS T 1”. The case has the original leather carrying strap intact.
