Bbl 24″ octagon

Louis Daniel Nimschke (July 1832-April 9, 1904) was a German born immigrant who is considered one of the leading firearms engravers of his time.

This elegant rifle has American style engraving consisting of flowing foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds on receiver sides. Right side has open banner for personalization. Left side depicts a running bull elk.

Complimenting engraving extends to receiver, top & bottom as well as forearm cap & brass crescent trap door buttplate. Bottom of frame has typical “LDN” signature.

Bbl. 24” octagon w/ 2 line King’s-Improvement address. German silver blade rocky mountain style front sight w/ graduated leaf rear sight. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w. sling swivels.

Left inside of lower tang is stamped “R”. Top tang channel of stock is stamped w/ last four digits of S#. Lower tang bears inspection marks “F”, “S” & “R”. S# indicates 1874 mfg.
