Fine Confederate Lieutenant’s Forage Cap

02-17253

Tall Confederate forage caps have long been known among collectors as “Stonewall Jackson” style due to Jackson’s wearing same tall style cap.

4″ high in front, 8″ central seam in back. Made with cadet gray wool broadcloth, one strand bullion trim & quatrefoil (lieutenant rank), tarred linen 1.5″ sweatband, tarred linen sewn binding on visor edge, tarred linen chin strap attached with two 15mm eagle staff buttons.

Crown is lightly quilted and lined in lightweight cotton single ply fabric. Part of Steve Mullinax collection for many years. He purchased it at Virginia Civil War show from a gentleman who brought it in not knowing who in his lineage as to who would have worn it.

UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of 2014 consulting report by Will Gorges as to value and authenticity. Custom display case with stand, custom “pillow” that’s fits interior of cap.
