RARE SAILOR’S HANGING CORNER WALL SHELF

Last quarter 19th century, American. This nice Victorian example with ornate design of snails, conch shells, with sea urchin. The center of the shelf decorated with a bisque doll head flanked by conch shells. The shelf corner ends each inset with small portrait daguerreotypes. The vertical support and crest comprised of an arrangement of larger shells centering a nicely carved abalone panel in the form of a cartouche with scroll work.
