LARGE EXTREMELY RARE TROPHY CARVED AND PAINTED STRIPED BASS BY LAWRENCE C. IRVINE

Winthrop, Maine circa 1969. Lawrence C. Irvine (1918-1998) was a carver in Winthrop, Maine known best for his lifelike fish carvings which he did for his clients. This extraordinarily rare and magnificent carved example depicts a trophy striped bass. To our knowledge this is one of only 2 of this species ever carved by Irvine. It is mounted on a natural oval stained backboard and is unsigned. The plaque on the front reads “B.K. Still-June 27, 1969 at Popham Beach, Maine 21-1/2 lbs. 37 1/2″ long”. SIZE: 48″ x 17 1/2″ overall.
