SAVAGE 1899-F ENGRAVED LEVER ACTION SRC

Bbl. 20″ round. Marble Sheard gold bead front sight w/ marbles express rear sight & Lyman tang sight. Action features rectangular cocking indicator on bolt, brass rotary mag. w/ left side cartridge counter, bent tab safety & saddle ring. Period engraving in a non-standard pattern is by an unidentified engraver. Engraving consists of foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds on receiver sides, complimentary scroll & punch dot ornamentation extends to upper & lower action areas. Schnable tipped forearm & straight hand stock of fancy black walnut w/ steel carbine buttplate. Forearm & wrist of stock have fancy borderless checkering w/ scalloped rear edges & additional checkering panels on the stock ears. Finish is blue w/ case colored lever. Serial number indicates 1902 mfg. CONDITION: bbl. retains 90% blue showing small scratches & marks w/ muzzle wear. Action has largely faded to gray retaining blue in protected areas. Lever retains traces of case colors. Original wood finish shows numerous scratches & marks. Stock has small hairline cracks on left side of action & top tang. Forearm has small chip on right side of action. Checkering remains nicely intact. Bore has a darkened appearance w/ a lightly worn intact rifling.
