J.D. Knap of Catskill, NY (1875-1962) was a business man with a passion for duck hunting. Artwork was a hobby one of his hunting companions urged him to begin selling his work and he became quite successful. 1) This large painting is late autumn scene of 8 Canada geese settling into a large marshy area. Lower left is signed J.D. Knap in pencil. SIZE: overall 35″ x 26-1/2″, sight 29″ x 21″ under glass. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of Berrien Moore III.
