The 24″ monoblock barrels fitted with one piece feather engraved top rib with center portion cut away forming quarter rib and front sight ramp. Rear portion is fitted with one standing two folding leaf rear sight and front ramp holds silver bead with a flip-over white night bead. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with French nitro proofs, S# and “AZUR”. Coin finished action of unique Verney-Carron design with three bearing points on hinge pin features non-automatic safety, bushed strikers, nicely sculpted reinforce to action and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with 70% coverage of finely cut scroll with rose bouquet accents on fences. Bottom of action features a Bulino rendition of a quartering white (wide) rhino. (Engraver’s signature “Gonrel” is at right side of scene.) Matching double beaded trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on tang that extends to trap steel grip cap engraved to match. Beautifully stump figured, dark and dense European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 15″ over dark brown Decelerator pad. Stock features traditionally shaped shadow line right hand cheekpiece, chin strap transition to grip, right hand palm swell and shadow line transition to side panels. Point pattern grip checkering is very nicely done at about 22 lines per inch. Matching semi-beavertail ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: approx. 2-7/8″. DAC: approx. 1-5/8″. CAST: about 5/8″ off. LOP: 15″. WEIGHT: 14 lb. 11 oz. (It feels as though there is a anti-recoil device in buttstock.) UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is housed in a good quality leather case with leather corners; lined in green felt. A factory label is in lid. Case contains: small square oil bottle, 16 gauge snap caps, a small tin of vaseline and a pair of white Calloway golf gloves. CONDITION: exceptionally fine; very close to “as new” with only a very few handling and assembly marks on all wood and metal surfaces. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically crisp. Case is very fine. Interior with some compressions. A new Azur Imperial retails for well in excess of $50,000. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. STATUS: MODERN.
