US WWII DATED SPRINGFIELD 50 BMG BOLT ACTION MANN ACCURACY DEVICE
25-6123 | Cal. 50 BMG. | S# 3048. | Bbl. 35 7/8″.
This very large, heavy & interesting device was used to test the accuracy of 50 caliber machine gun ammunition. Though similar to other Mann devices, this barrel is fitted w/ a bolt action single shot receiver. The receiver is faintly electro-penciled on top “SA / NO130”. Firing is accomplished by a spring-loaded over center hammer. The barrel, which measures approx. 2 1/4″ in diameter, has a 4 3/4″ rebated section forward of the receiver measuring approx. 2″ in diameter. The rebated section is electro-penciled “RIFLE, ACCURACY / CAL. .50-D-45968”. The barrel is additionally marked forward of the rebate “M / JM3 / SA15323 / D35496 / SA 9-42 / 3048 / F / small circular symbol resembling sunburst”. STATUS: CURIO.
