FEGA MASTER ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER, “CHRONICLE OF THE WESTERN MARCH” BY THE RENOWNED MICHAEL DUBBER
25-1518 | Cal. 45 Colt. | S# SA01647. | Bbl. 4 3/4″.
Mfg. 1979 and subsequently commissioned for Master level engraving, this signed presentation grade Single Action Army pays tribute to the mythic sweep of westward expansion that formed the Country we all know today. Displaying frontier motifs throughout to provide the wide-open breadth of the 1800’s. Right side of barrel features a gold inlaid trio of galloping mustangs thundering striding across the open desert amidst naturally formed silver inlaid buttes & spires beneath a starry night sky, like shimmering scattered lanterns, while the full moon looms low. Lower right of frame bears a single gold inlaid abandoned wagon scene with a spear planted firmly in the ground, displaying the dashed wagon wheel dreams of newfound opportunity and prosperity. The grassy plains backdrop shows in dark contrast a silhouette of a mounted Native warrior. Plum hued loading gate has gold inlay of prickly pear cactus in full bloom. Left recoil shield is inlaid with a gold bust of a rampant colt while a gold inlaid bucking bison sits atop backstrap. Top of hammer shows a gold inlaid horseshoe, a symbol of luck used for the hope of good fortune. Luck was a companion every Westward settler sought, though few ever met along that lonesome trail. Gold wire inlays appear on numerous surfaces with single lines at muzzle end of bbl, ejector rod housing, frame contours, cylinder flutes, backstrap & butt. Double gold wire inlays appear at breech end of bbl. and rear of cyl. Robust multitude of inlays are surrounded by well executed foliate scroll engraving over extra fine stippled contrasting background. Barrel markings & Rampant Colt logo are highlighted in gold. Bottom of barrel bears the engraver’s signature in script “M.W. Dubber Engr.” Heads of fire blued action screws, cylinder rod head and cyl. release pin are engraved. This work of art is stocked with beautifully fit smooth white grips, right side displays a relief carved Rampant Colt. STATUS: MODERN.
