FINE EARLY 1863 CONFEDERATE FAYETTEVILLE RIFLE

01-28690 | Cal. 58. | NSN.

This is a fine example of scarce early 1863 brass mounted Confederate rifle made in Fayetteville, NC from captured Harper’s Ferry machinery. Standard configuration, 33″ barrel with “VP & eaglehead” proofs, and 1863 date, adjustable rear sight, and saber bayonet lug. Lock is marked forward of the hammer with eagle over “CSA” & “Fayetteville”, stamped “1863” at tail. Buttplate surcharged “CSA”. Early “PB” inspection stamped in stock opposite lock, and iron nose cap only seen on early rifles. This is an attractive and superior early 1863 made Fayetteville rifle. STATUS: ANTIQUE.
