HIGHLY DESIRABLE COLT FIRST GENERATION SINGLE ACTION ARMY FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER REVOLVER, SHIPPED TO COPPER QUEEN CONSOLIDATED MINING CO

Single Action Army Frontier Six Shooter revolver mfg. by Colt in 1905. Left side of the bbl. is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER”, with Colt’s single line address marked across the top. Underside of bbl. is marked with a diminutive “44” at the breech. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt’s 2-line patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Left side of trigger guard is marked with an unidentified marking beneath the grip panel. Frame was case colored, with remaining metal components having been blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered brown hard rubber grips. Fixed SAA pattern blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Cyl. and bbl. are unnumbered. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter dated May 24th, 1991 indicating “Serial Number: 270283/ Caliber: .44/40/ Barrel Length: 5 1/2″/ Type of Stocks: Not Listed/ Shipped To: Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Co./ Address: Bisbee, Arizona Territory/ Date of Shipment: December 14, 1905/ Number of Same Type/ Guns in Shipment: 2”. The Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company, founded in 1885, was the most productive copper Mine in Arizona at the turn of the 20th century. Copper mining in the surroudning area saw a notable decline in the 1930s and 1940s, but the Copper Queen continued to be mined via the open-pit mining process following the conclusion of World War II, with production ceasing in 1975.
