25-6319 | Cal. 45 Colt. | S# 317105. | Mfg. 1911.

Bbl. 7 1/2″ with blade front sight. Bee-Ho Gray (1885-1951). Was an accomplished trick roper who performed in circuses, rodeos and a multitude of Wild west shows including the Miller Brothers / 101 Ranch Real Wild West Show. Born Emberry Cannon Gray in Leon, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, OK, Gray was raised amongst the Apache, Comanche, and Kiowa tribes and would eventually take on the name Bee-Ho. Bee Ho Gray joined the Miller Brothers / 101 Ranch show and traveled with them from 1907-1916 and again from 1925-1931. It should be noted that this revolver was shipped to Chicago on March 30, 1911, Bee-Ho Gray travelled with the show and performed in Chicago just over 3 months later on July 8, 1911. Other notable performers include Tom Mix & “Buffalo” Bill Cody. Revolver appears to be factory engraved in the complex style of Cuno Helfricht. Frame & bbl. feature foliate scroll over a punch dot background. Recoil shield & loading gate have the Helfricht style sunburst pattern. In between cyl. flutes alternate notes of scroll and fancy finial patterns. Found throughout are zig zag, punch dot, straight & wavy line borders. Backstrap professionally inscribed (non factory) :1916 Fron Bee-Ho Gray / To George Hubert”. Revolver is fully silver plated, tarnish would indicate that this was likely done at the time of inscription. It is unknown who George Hulbert was but date of inscription coincides with Gray’s final year of his first stint with the Miller Brothers / 101 Ranch show. Revolver is stocked with fancy factory 2 piece mother of pearl grips. Matching numbers on frame, trigger guard frame, cyl. & butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: excerpt from Colt factory letter stating the following: “Serial Number: 317105 / Caliber: 45/c / Barrel Length: 7 1/2″ / Finish: Nickel / Type of Stocks: Pearl / Factory Engraved: Yes / Shipped To: Von Lengerke & Antoine / Address: Chicago, Illinois / Date of Shipment: March 30, 1911 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 1”.
