1600’S SAXON STYLE BONE INLAID HUNTING CROSSBOW WITH STAND

Overall: 29.75″. Steel prods measures 25.25″ wide with 1/4″ woven cloth string, 4 green & blue cloth dampers. Walnut stock held to bow by rope with a provision for iron loop at front. Stock has large finely carved bone inlay on top with additional bone inlays at tip, sides & butt. Motifs on top include 2 interlocking dragons & “Man-in-the-Moon”. Steel lever acts as trigger for bone latch. 2 Steel studs on sides of stock for drawing string. Also included is 28.75″ long walnut stand. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis.
