 CASED CUSTOM ENGRAVED COLT SAA REVOLVER BELONGING TO WESTERN MOTION PICTURE STAR LASH LARUE WITH 1983 GOLDEN BOOT AWARD

 Lash La Rue (1917-1996) was a famous Western movie and television star in the 1940s and 1950s. His use of a bullwhip in his roles earned him the nickname “King of the Bullwhip”. His contribution to the Western genre earned him “The Golden Boot Award” on August 19, 1983, the very first year the award was given out. Other notable first year recipients were Gene Autry, Lee Majors, Roy Rogers and Lee Van Cleef. Mfg. 1987 and later beautifully custom engraved & nickel plated by noted jewelry engraver J.W. Thompson. Revolver features 75% coverage Nimschke style foliate scroll engraving over punch dot background. Backstrap is inscribed “Lash La Rue”. Revolver is beautifully stocked with 1 piece mother of pearl grip. Right side features raised relief carved steer head with red eyes. Matching numbers on frame, butt & triggerguard frame. Consignor information notes that this gun was originally mfg. in 41 Colt with a 4 3/4″ bbl. making the barrel & cyl replacements. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Golden boot award with wood base having plaque marked “GOLDEN BOOT AWARD / AUGUST 18, 1983 / PRESENTED TO / LASH LA RUE”. Boot currently not permanently affixed. Red velvet shadowlined walnut case containing Lash La Rue belt buckle, miniature Golden Boot, Lash La Rue commemorative silver coin, replica U.S. Marshal badge engraved “Lash La Rue” & custom made plaque bearing image of La Rue & “Lash La Rue’s 45 Colt Peacemaker”. Larger plaque of same design adorns case lid. Lash La Rue Enterprises letter notarized July 3, 1995 signed by La Rue identifying this revolver as part of his personal collection.  PROVENANCE: From the Personal collection of Lash La Rue.
