inv #01-19962

Cal. .36. SN 20399.

This revolver was made in 1864 & is pictured on page 170 of Sutherland & Wilson’s landmark 1971 text “The Book of Colt Firearms”. Its mate (SN 21838 ex-George Gamble collection) is owned by the Gene Autry Museum w/ same inscription on inside of trigger guard “Aloys Seinen Johann”, identical engraving, & carved grips; obviously made as a pair even though the Autry is cased.

Standard configuration 7.5” bbl with 1-line New York address, engraved most likely by Louis Nimschke w/ full coverage arabesque scrolls having pearled background & his signature fan on top of backstrap. Metal silver plated w/ exception of gold washed cylinder, hammer, loading arm, & trigger. Exceptional relief carved & checkered ivory grips showcase high relief eagle & shield on left side.
