Extremely Rare “Town Of Boston” Revolutionary War Era Dutch Musket
inv # 01-17750
This exact gun is pictured and described in Warren Moore’s 1967 text Weapons of the American Revolution. (pps 110-111) This is one of only two examples known. Barrel measures 43 ¼ inch, 75 caliber. Pre-Revolutionary war Dutch lock has makers mark “CORAV- /A- MASTRICH” engraved forward of cock. Thumb plate and buttplate both numbered 38. Indiscernible company markings are engraved on top buttplate tang. Many Dutch muskets were used in the American Revolution, but few with such a unique brand “TOWN OF / BOSTON”.
