Classic Bedford gun w/ elongated engraved percussion locks w/ slenderized sculptured hammers signed “T. OLDHAM” on right bbl. & “BEDFORD” on left. Classic Bedford County profile & engraved patchbox. Lg. engraved silver eagle plaque on cheekpiece. Brass mounts all engraved including lg. oval thumb plate. Oldham was well known for making side by sides & this is an exemplary example.
Thomas Oldham (1809-1891) was active in the 1840s & likely before; he moved to Iowa about 1854, which would end his Bedford County rifle days.
