29.75” blade etched with patriotic motifs including First National flag, cross cannons in a panoply of arms, and “CSA”. Classic Boyle & Gamble tobacco leaf decorated pommel, single brass wire wrapped leather grip. Scabbard is classic top stitched B&G with plain brass pinned mounts.

The throat is inscribed “J. A. WEST / 1ST LIEUT / CO. C 3RD REG / VA R”. Jacob A West is found in the Virginia rosters as 1st Lieut. Company C, 3rd Virginia Reserves (Buckingham Reserves), Booker’s Regiment, Walker’s Brigade. Jacob was promoted to 1st lieutenant November 7, 1864. He signed an oath of allegiance at Farmville, VA April 28, 1865. His sword is well preserved, complete, original with fine patina.
