GEORGIAN GRANT OF ARMS TO RICHARD GRAVES IN ITS ORIGINAL LEATHER FITTED CASE.

This finely illuminated vellum document recites part of the family history of Richard Graves of Mickleton, Gloucestershire. It grants the right to the Coat of Arms illustrated in the document to Graves & bears 2 original clay pendant seals in tin protective cases. The document is dated 4 July 1728. The document is rolled & comes w/ its original, tooled leather, fitted, custom case for the document & the 2 seals. The beautifully painted Coat of Arms is highlighted in gold & features a lg. illustration of the Graves of Mickleton Arms on the left. Included among the decorative flourishes are the Royal Arms, the Arms of the Garter King of Arms & the Clarenceux King of Arms, both of whom signed the letters of patent. The recipient of the grant was Richard Graves (1677-1729). He was the father of the famous novelist & poet, Richard Graves (1715-1804).
