HORATIO ACEVEDO GOLD INSET & ENGRAVED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER LIKE CZAR NICHOLAS PRESENTATIONS.

Inv. 01-19961

Cal. 31
S# 63305

This gun is a faithful elaborate gold inset facsimile made from a Colt 2nd Generation black powder revolver circa 1965. As can be seen in photographs it is quite elaborate. The original 6” bbl pocket model it is copied from is in the Hermitage Museum & was presented by Col. Colt to Czar Nicholas in 1856. It is in truly amazing condition retaining virtually all its orig finish & gold inlay.

Horatio Q. Acevedo (1924-2010) & his work is prominently shown on pages 706-719 of The Colt Engraving Book Volume Two by R.L. Wilson. No comparable examples have sold publicly, though a couple have been sold as original over the years. Well known Colt collector & comedian Buddy Hackett commissioned several “clones” of Colt’s finest work like this in the 1970s.
