Stock: 2 piece walnut grips. Back strap is inscribed “Lieut. Johns 61st Mass. Vols.”

Notes: Massachusetts Soldiers, Sailors & Marines in the Civil War, Vols. 4 & 5, state the following information: Henry T. Johns was born April 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. He enlisted in the 49th Mass. Infantry in Sept. 1862. He was commissioned an officer of the 61st Mass. Volunteers in Sept. 1864 & mustered out w/ his regiment in June 1865. On Nov. 5th, 1893, Johns was awarded the Medal of Honor for “Extraordinary Heroism” on May 27, 1963 while serving as a private w/ Company C of the 49th Mass. Infantry at Port Hudson, Louisiana.
