RARE 1814 DATED 2nd MODEL VIRGINIA MANUFACTORY FLINTLOCK PISTOL.
inv # 01-18423

Cal.64.
10” rnd bbl.
S# marked “222” on bottom and matching inside stock and sideplate.

Standard configuration 16” overall, patterned after model 1805 Harper’s Ferry with lock makings: “VIRGINIA” forward of cock and “RICHMOND / 1814” vertically at tail. About 4000 pistols were made at the Virginia Manufactory 1805-1815, about 2000 each of the 1st model and the elegant 2nd model (made 1812-1815). Only 603 were made in 1814 and there are very few original flintlock survivors as most were converted to percussion for the Civil War. This is a fine all original example with great collection history rarely offered in original flint configuration with superior markings.
