The rifle was designed & mfg. to reduce costs, machine time, & the use of high grade materials. Despite rough war time finish on all parts, rifle appears to be a serviceable design. Notched rear sight is mounted on front of receiver & is drift adj. for windage. Blade front sight formed from sheet metal w/ integral protective hood. Rifle is mfg. using sheet metal stampings, rivets & spot welds where possible. Receiver produced as a flat sheet metal stamping, which was formed over a rnd. mandrel to accommodate the bolt.
