Bbl. 22″ extra light Nickel Steel w/ ramp mounted Lyman No. 4 ivory hunting front sight w/ flat top sporting rear sight. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Forearm & straight grip stock of fancy black walnut w/ hard rubber shotgun buttplate.

Stock & forearm have Style D factory carving consisting of fancy borderless hand checkering w/ delicate hand carved oak leaf & acorn panels. Left side of forearm ahead of action has hand carved letter “F”. Inside of top tang w/ assembly # “55”. This level of carving is generally seen only on factory engraved rifles. Non engraved rifles w/ factory carving are exceedingly rare & very very seldom encountered. Consignor research indicate that this may be the only known non engraved M1886 rifle w/ style D factory carving.
